Also known as the Indus pond turtle, the black pond turtle is a species of turtle native to the Indus and Ganges river in Pakistan and North-eastern India. As you may have guessed by it’s common name this turtle is all black and spotted with yellow-white spots (its plastron is a light yellow though). Like most members of geoemydidae this turtle is a carnivore and acts in a similar manor to more common turtles like the painted turtle. Due to illegal trade G.hamiltonii has been listed as vulnerable.
